Atelier Delphine is inspired by designer Yuka Izutsu’s background in literature, poetry and philosophy which she studied in Japan before moving to Los Angeles where she discovered conceptual art. Heavily influenced by French minimalism and the idea of casual sophistication, Altelier Delphine translates this into textiles and garments which draw on the feel and history of materials. Using materials inspired by travels across countries such as India and Peru, Yuka works closely with traditional artisans and skilled craftsmen around the globe. Key to Yuka’s vision is that she works closely with artisans who have their own creative vision and personality which she then weaves into her own garments to create a garment which speaks on many levels. Each piece is inspired by the beauty of travel, form and function with its own tale to tell.
